Our Wallerawang Butcher Shop
Wallerawang, (Wall-er-a-wang) or Wang as it is commonly referred to by locals, is located approximately 14 km north-west of Lithgow.
Wallerawang became a major stopover for those headed between Sydney and the farming areas beyond Mudgee and for those travelling between Sydney and Bathurst.
It was the arrival of the railway at Lithgow in 1869 (and Wallerawang in 1870) which enabled the industrialisation and hence the closer settlement of the valley. A town developed adjacent Wallerawang station. Until the line to Bathurst was completed in 1876 all passengers alighted at Wallerawang and joined a Cobb & Co. coach for the journey west to Bathurst or north to Mudgee.
The Wallerawang Butcher shop was built in the early 1900's. In the early days deliveries were done by horse and cart. The shop tells its own story, it has seen many years come and go. It was once burnt down and then re-established and still stands today as a busy retail and wholesale meat outlet.
In 1991, The shop was bought and named Wallerawang Village Meats. This business was built up to be a well known local wholesale and retail shop for local restaurants, clubs, pubs and the local community.
In November 2009, I was given the opportunity to take over this butcher shop where I am able to carry on the quality and great service that Wallerawang Village Meats has provided over the past years. This also has given us the opportunity to promote our new breed of beef cattle "SPECKLE PARK SUPREME".
Our Lithgow Butcher Shop
The Lithgow Shop opened in November 2010.
This shop has always been known as The Local Top End Butchery.
Ray Williams our manager along with with his team love to service our local customers. They provide a delivery service, great weekly specials and that friendly butcher smile.
We buy our meat locally to support our local Australian farmers.
